About Hamilton Montessori School

Our vision at Hamilton Montessori School is to provide accessible and quality Montessori education to our Stoney Creek families and surrounding regions. We aim to provide children with equal opportunity to reach their full potential while supporting their individual academic, social, emotional and physical development. Our philosophy and beliefs follow traditional Montessori methods while encouraging exploration, creativity, empathy and compassion. We prepare children for a journey of life-long learning and instill values of peace and harmony to become positive, responsible citizens of the world.

CANADA WIDE LEARNING CHILD CARE PROGRAM STATEMENT

Hamilton Montessori School is in contact with the City of Hamilton and has requested to be included in the budget planning for CWELCC in the upcoming School year. We have been advised that HMS has been included on the waitlist and will be contacted as soon as funding is made available. In the meantime, please note that our first and foremost priority is in delivering the Montessori pedagogy to our children.

CANADIAN COUNCIL OF MONTESSORI ADMINISTRATORS

Our school is an Affiliated School with the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators, CCMA, which allows us to participate in professional development, make connections with the greater Montessori community and promote the life-long benefits of Montessori education for children in Canada.  Since we are a new Montessori school, we plan on progressing towards accreditation, once established.

HMS recognizes that our School is situated on Indigenous lands. We acknowledge and are grateful to the First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples who have been caretakers of these lands and their resources. Our School is located on traditional territories of the Erie, Neatral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. Our Montessori students, staff and faculty are dedicated to honouring all agreements and covenants by working with and learning from our Indigenous neighbours with a spirit of humility, respect, remembrance, and reconciliation.

Our Logo

The different elements of the HMS logo is inspired by the Stoney Creek – and Greater Hamilton and Niagara Region.

Hamilton’s Peregrin Falcons: Peregrin Falcons have been annual visitors to Hamilton since the early 1990’s. In 2022, Hamilton became the sixth community in Canada – and third in Ontario – to earn the “Bird Friendly City” designation.

Native Tamarac Trees of Hamilton: Is Ontario’s only native deciduous conifer (loses its needles in the fall and is cone bearing). The needles are soft and turn from bluish-green in summer to golden yellow in the fall.

A Beautiful Golden Horseshoe Sunrise: Each morning is a uniquely different sunrise over the Great Lakes Ontario region. The heart of the Golden Horseshoe region begins in Niagara Falls, extends to Hamilton, Toronto, and ends in Oshawa.

The Niagara “Mountain” Escarpment: Hidden waterfalls. Rare orchids. Endangered reptiles. Wind currents that allow raptors to glide effortlessly on its current for hours. These are just a few of the reasons that the Niagara Escarpment has been designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.

Lake Ontario & the Hamilton Harbour: The Hamilton Harbour lies on the western tip of Lake Ontario, bounded on the northwest by the City of Burlington, on the south by the City of Hamilton, and on the east by Hamilton Beach.
